Key Largo Road Trip 

I am driving down to the Keys next week from Miami. I plan on stopping over in Key Largo. Any recommendations on a great place to eat? I've never ventured off US1 when I've made the drive from Miami, are there any fun/decent places to stay in Key Largo?

Escaping to the Island of Key Largo  - leave the hustle and bustle of the city to enter a world of peaceful mangroves and aqua blue water. KEY LARGO .(305) 451-3722  Keys people pack the counters and booths at this rustic, open-air eatery that's a throwback to the 1950s, when the Keys had more fishermen than tourists and folk artists filled the place with beer-can art (after first drinking the high life inside). Mrs. Mac's Kitchen on the bayside is a great lunch spot. Don't miss it. Mrs. Mac's Kitchen is known for serving up great food and attentive service, plus maintaining a packed house. Do not pass this restaurant by...right on the Overseas Highway...maybe you don't have a view to speak of, but you will have an excellent meal and excellent service and reasonable prices...and you are dining with locals.

Pilot House Restaurant 

Waterside casual or fine dining. You choose. Offering an excellent menu outside at the Tiki Bar or in the recently renovated dining room. Freshest seafood in south Florida.The Pilot House Restaurant is a locals' favorite and a Key Largo landmark. From wings to stuffed lobster, burgers, fish, shrimp, and steak.The Pilot House Marina is located on secluded Lake Largo. Sunday brunch at the Pilot House. You sit on the deck along the water. The misters kept you cool, even in the mid-day sun and the view is pleasant. Or by boat - it's a great place to eat after snorkeling or diving at John Pennecamp State Park.

  

Gilbert's   In this particular corner of the world the boundaries between sea and sky seem to meet...With a great sunset. We made a stop at Gilbert's Tiki Bar while boating in Key Largo. You must have their fish sandwich! It is a boater's delight as you can tie-up to the dock. You'll find a TIKI bar at the end of the dock, the usual Key's offerings at the bar and from the restaurant.
